Are you looking to create the Pinterest-worthy laundry room of your dreams, except you’re on a budget and also have a tiny laundry room? Not to worry, I have found the best products out there that will ensure your space has a beautiful aesthetic and is also functional.
This post is all about how to organize a small laundry room.
Declutter Like a Pro:
The first step in organizing any space is to declutter. Take a good look at your laundry room and ask yourself, “Do I actually need all of this?” Donate or recycle items you no longer use, like old cleaning supplies and especially any empty containers or boxes. By clearing out the clutter, you’ll instantly create more space to work with.
Use Vertical Space:
Another key tip in organizing is to maximize your vertical space in a room. I’m a huge fan of installing shelves or floating cabinets above your washer and dryer. This is a perfect spot to store detergent, fabric softener, and other laundry essentials, keeping them within reach without taking up precious floor space.
Containers for Laundry Soap:
Once your room is decluttered and you have your vertical space maximized, it’s time to actually start using functional decor. The first step in my opinion is to ditch those ugly containers for your laundry detergent. Whether you’re a powder or pod person, finding a cute container to hold your laundry detergent is the first step to leveling up your laundry room.
Containers for Other Laundry Items:
While you’re at it, grab a few more containers for the other miscellaneous laundry items you may want to keep on display like dryer balls, scented beads, and fabric softener.
This container is super cute for displaying dryer sheets too!
Functional Hamper:
Invest in a quality hamper that has sections so it’s easy to keep your laundry separated and ready to go right in the washer. The first hamper linked is a bit on the pricey side (although well worth it in my opinion), but I’ve also found a super cute budget friendly version as well.
Install a Drying Rack:
Another great way to maximize space in your small laundry room without spending a lot of $$ is to install a drying rack that pulls out from the wall. I have this exact one from Amazon and absolutely love it.
Switch Out Your Light Fixture:
One of my favorite ways to upgrade a space is to upgrade the light fixture in your room. This can be done very affordably and is a pretty easy DIY upgrade. A friendly reminder though to always ensure you shut off your power before doing any electrical work in your house!
And there you have it! Organizing a small laundry room on a budget is definitely achievable with these few little changes and upgrades. Starting with decluttering and maximizing space, then adding a few personal touches can totally transform your space and might even make you enjoy laundry day!
