The first trimester can be incredibly overwhelming and a bit isolating. You’re not feeling well, may not have told many people your very exciting news yet, and may even not have been to the doctor early on in your pregnancy. If this sounds like you, you are not alone – I have been there! I am currently pregnant with my second baby and am remembering just how overwhelmed I was the first time around. Luckily, I now have the knowledge of first trimester must haves and I would love to share that knowledge with you. If you’re looking for some helpful tips and product recommendations to get you through that first trimester then keep reading!
This post is all about first trimester must haves.
1. Anti-Nausea Supplements
Ah the least favorite of first trimester symptoms – nausea. If you’re starting to feel a little queasy during those first few weeks, try a few different nausea supplements. I absolutely swear by these Gin Gins ginger candies and Pink Stork anti-nausea candy. They’re perfect for taking the edge off when you start feeling a little ill. If you need something a little stronger, try a B6 supplement (but of course, please always check with your doctor before taking anything during pregnancy).
2. High Quality Prenatal Vitamin
A high quality prenatal vitamin is essential during the first trimester. I’ve tried a few different kinds, but have recently discovered Perelel. Perelel is backed by a team of leading multidisciplinary doctors and practitioners in women’s health, and it is a women founded company. I am really loving their 1st Trimester Prenatal Pack. What I also really like about Perelel is they have a variation of the 1st Trimester Prenatal Pack that is powder and can be easily blended into smoothies if you’re having a hard time swallowing pills (hi, it’s me).
3. An Elite Water Tumbler
Hydration is absolutely key all throughout pregnancy, but especially during the first trimester. I am a huge fan of the Brumate Era tumbler and the cult classic Stanley tumbler as well.
4. Extra Hydration
If you want to boost your hydration a bit, try to implement some additional electrolytes in your water throughout the day. LMNT electrolyte packets are a clean brand, and their flavors are delicious!
5. Snacks
Always keep snacks around throughout the first trimester. I like to keep them in my car, in my bag, at my desk, basically anywhere and everywhere. I have found that not letting my stomach get empty is a total game-changer when it comes to nausea kicking in. I’ve linked a few of my favorite healthy snacks below.
6. Blanket
You may be spending quite a bit of time on the couch or in bed those first few months of pregnancy. This is a great time to find an excuse to buy a brand new super comfy blanket. Barefoot Dreams are always my favorite when it comes to blankets, but there are also a few great dupes for these on Amazon. Both are linked below!
7. Slippers
Same as the above, grab yourself a new pair of slippers to stay comfy throughout the day. The Stars Above brand slippers from Target are affordable and cute!
8. Cozy Pajamas
In my opinion, Target has the best cozy pajamas for a great price. They hold up well and will keep you comfortable for your whole first trimester.
9. Comfortable Athleisure Sets
Even if you aren’t *quite* showing yet, jeans are probably the last thing you will want to wear during these first few months of pregnancy. I personally liveee in athleisure sets, and I love the different options so many brands have out right now. I’ll link a few of my favorites below.
10. Humidifier
Kind of odd, but with both of my pregnancies I have been so stuffy. I’m not sure if it’s the hormones or what is causing it, but I’ve found that a humidifier helps immensely with this throughout all of pregnancy.
So there you have it, mamas – the ultimate first trimester survival kit. Embrace the chaos, stay hydrated, comfortable, and remember that you’ve totally got this!
